City on the Sea Bed

I dreamt that I was playing a computer game, and in the game the ocean had been drained of water. I was at one edge of the sea bed, at the foot of a slope which would have once lead up to the beach. In front of me was a strange city with many towers and buildings that resembled something between mushrooms, sea shells and stalagmites.

The city was made of a dark blue, stone-like material, and the sea bed was also a dark blue-grey colour. I could see far into the distance as there was nothing on the sea floor, and in the distance I could see the rocky slope of another coast line.

Sickness

Tags: Yu Lee

The theme of this dream was illness.

In the first part of this dream, I'm staying at a house with several other people. One of the others is staying in the basement, and shortly after he goes down to his room I hear him being sick. I tell one of the other people in the house and he goes down to investigate. I hear them start talking and then they seem to be just hanging out.

A while later, when I see the guy who went down to check on him I ask him what happened. He tells me that the first guy was violently sick all over the concrete floor, and then they were just hanging out down there.

All I can think of is the mess, and how it will be soaking into the concrete and difficult to clean up. I can't understand why they are just leaving it there.

In the next part that I remember, Yu Lee and I are out in the city centre, doing some shopping. In the dream world, the city has two major sections: a lower section and an upper section. We take the escalator up to the higher section, and as we are arriving at the top we hear an announcement.

"All children in the upper district are being evacuated due to an illness. The illness is highly contagious and transmitted through touch. Do not touch any children in the upper district or you are likely to fall into a coma." (Or words to that effect.)

I have a bit of a moan to Yu Lee about foreigners bringing their diseases to the city as we push through the crowds of people. There are a lot of children about, and it's quite hard not to bump into them as it's so crowded, so after a while we decide to head back down and get out of the city centre.

Later, we have gotten out of the city centre and are on a busy main road (similar to East Road in Cambridge). I ask Yu Lee why we're walking this way as it's not really the way home, but she basically dodges the question and doesn't answer it.

A few minutes later we come to a large shop. I can't remember the name of the shop, but it has lots of different types of things in it for your home, like a slightly more upmarket version of Wilkinson's.

"So this is why you were taking us this way!" I say as I figure out that this was the plan all along. I never want to go in these kinds of shops, and Yu Lee tricked me into coming here!

When we enter the shop, there is an entryway with glass doors and a few items on display, and then some stairs down into the rest of the shop. In the entryway I notice a skateboard, quite a large eighties style board, and although it was probably propped up on something, it looks like someone has put it down in the middle of the floor so that someone will step on it and slip down the stairs. We step round the skateboard and head downstairs.

When we get near the bottom of the stairs there are two large stacks of clothes, mainly jeans, blocking the way forward. There is another customer at the bottom who looks puzzled as to the way out. After a couple of seconds of trying to squeeze past the piles of clothes, a store assistant comes over and moves the pile. He has a distinctly unimpressed look on his face.

Once the shop assistant has moved the clothes we push past the other customer and into the shop.

Out of Bed

Tags: Yu Lee

I am in bed with Yu Lee and Yu Lee is awake but I'm still half asleep. She is trying to wake me up so I can give her a cuddle.

Yu Lee is pushing and shaking me playfully to try to wake me up but I am resisting so that I can sleep a little longer. As I resist her play fighting I kind of roll on top of her, and at that moment she pushed quite hard with her feet and the force is just enough to push me off of the foot of the bed.

I spring to my feet and walk away from the bed and start putting my clothes on.

"Come back and give me a cuddle!" she says playfully.

"You pushed me out of bed so I'm up now," I reply to her, clearly annoyed.

Steve's Sat Nav

For most of this dream I was with Steve Till, which is odd because he isn't someone I've ever really hung out with.

The first part of the dream that I remember was running some kind of errand with him. He had to go and pick something up in his car and he had a really weird satellite navigation system with a large screen and a mouse. While he was driving around, steering with his right hand, he was also using the mouse for his sat-nav with his left hand. I remember turning a corner and thinking "How can he steer right and move the mouse left at the same time without getting confused?"

A while later we were at his house, in his bedroom, sat on the floor doing something with some kind of computer. I can't remember exactly what we were doing but it was taking a while. The main thing I remember about his bedroom is that is wasn't particularly tidy, and there were clothes on the floor (in real life, the only time I've been in his house it was immaculate so I don't know where that came from either).

The last thing I remember is that Yu Lee was there too and was tired so he let her lay down in his bed. He left the room and I was chatting to Yu Lee, and then I was laying in the bed with her too. He came back in and I said "We should really get up now."

Leaving Work

Tags: Dad Sue

I dreamt that I'd just quit my job to become a freelancer full time.

The day after I'd quit my job I went to Spain to stay with my dad and step mum. I got there just before lunch time, and although it was still the winter it was lovely and warm outside, and everything seemed to have a warm golden glow about it. Also, instead of living inland, my dad lived very close to the coast, only a few minutes walk from the beach.

I'd pretty much just arrived and I wanted to do something, but Dad and Sue weren't interested in doing anything. My dad suggested that I go and walk along the beach and take advantage of the nice weather. It was supposed to be my first day of freelancing, but I didn't have much work on so I thought I could spend the afternoon there if I wanted to. I started to get ready to go out, basically looking for my phone and my sandals.

As I was getting my things together I was fantasising about arriving at the beach. I was going to take a picture of my self with the sunny sky and the beach in the background, and send it to one of my work mates and say something like "My first day as a contractor," but as is often the way in my dreams, as much as I searched around the house, I couldn't find my sandals!

Lauryn's House

I dreamt that I was back in Slough, visiting my mum. For some reason I was out somewhere with my ex-girlfriend Lauryn's family.

I don't remember much about most of the day, for example I can't remember where we were, but I'm pretty sure we were doing something and it involved having a few drinks.

Lauryn's parents took me back to her house, and when I got in her parents had to go somewhere and I was alone with her little sister, Jade. She was exactly the same as she used to be and was still only 12 years old.

I asked her what she thought of the new house. I told her that I'd only been round a couple of times after they moved, and I thought it was better than their old house, especially the kitchen. She told me she didn't remember the old kitchen and I described it to her, but the kitchen that I described sounded suspiciously like the kitchen in my first house!

The whole thing about them moving was something that was made up in my dream.

A little while later Lauryn's dad gets back home, followed shortly afterwards by her mum. Her dad is drinking a lot. I think he was drinking beer at first, although I don't remember clearly, but I definitely remember him drinking vodka out of a bottle towards the end of the dream. The bottle was unlike any brand of vodka I've ever seen though: it was made out of dark brown glass and had a hexagonal cross-section and looked kind of like an antique.

We chatted for a while in the front room, and I carried on drinking too. I asked Lauryn's dad the same question I asked Jade: "What do you think of the new house?"

He commented on the fact that it wasn't new any more and I asked how long they'd lived there. He told me "fifteen years," and we talked about how it must have been nearly fifteen years ago that I was last there.

The final thing I remember talking about was money. He was telling me that he lends money to people and makes interest on it as some kind of investment. This conversation slowly evolved into talking about the future and what they would like to do, and Lauryn's mum said "I'd really like to get rid of one of the cars and be a single car family."

I agreed with her that it would be better (and cheaper) to have a single car, but then an argument broke out between them, with Lauryn's dad arguing about how ridiculous it would be to share a car.

A while later I told them I was going to call a taxi so that I could go back to my mum's house. Lauryn's dad looked at me and said, "Do you want me to drive you half way, to Sainsbury's?" but I started laughing and told him I didn't. It was obvious that I didn't accept his lift because he was drinking vodka straight out of a bottle.

Throughout this whole dream, Lauryn was not in it once (that I remember). I only dreamt about her house and her family.

Light in the Sky

Tags: Mike

I am at my mum's old house at York Avenue. We are outside in the garden, and the weather is starting to change from sunshine to rain. The rain gets heavy really quickly so we all head inside.

Once inside, we watch the weather out of the kitchen window and say that something doesn't seem quite right. Then we look up at the clouds and notice that the storm seems to be coming from one spot in the sky, and at this point there is a vortex of spinning clouds.

We watch the vortex for a while, and it seems to be growing and moving faster, and as it does so the clouds seem to thicken all around it and the rain comes down even faster. Then, all of a sudden a light appears at the centre of the vortex, growing brighter as we look at it.

After a minute or so another light appears on the other side of the sky. This time there is no vortex, and the light gets brighter and brighter until it comes out of the bottom of the cloud and into view. It looks like a unicorn made of light.

The unicorn heads towards the vortex and starts firing beams of energy into it, then the light from the vortex drops below the cloud layer and seems to be some kind of spaceship. It returns fire and the two objects battle for a while until the light from the vortex is destroyed. The vortex quickly disappears and then the clouds retreat, and the weather is bright and sunny as before. The unicorn flies off into the distance.

A while later, probably the next day, I'm standing in the hallway with my friend Mike from my school. I look in the sky and see more strange lights and tell him we should go outside and investigate. We step out into the garden and I watch the lights for a while, which this time look like sprites from an old computer game.

After a while Mike tells me that he doesn't see anything. I realise that this time I was making it up and that really there is nothing there. Mike tells me that what I saw the other day was incredible, but I can't expect to see things like that every day.

A Dying Christmas Guest

This dream had a really odd theme: it was about spending Christmas with a woman who was terminally ill.

We were staying at Ai Seng's house for Christmas. There were a lot of people there, as Zen and Shaolin were both staying there (I assume with their respective partners) in addition to me and Yu Lee, and we also had a terminally ill woman and her three children staying with us too.

The dying woman was relatively young, probably in her thirties. She was slim and had short blonde hair, and although her face had been aged somewhat by her illness, she was still attractive. She had twins who must have been 1 - 2 years old, and a little girl who was a couple of years older.

I don't remember many events from the dream (and to be honest it felt like we spent most of the dream sitting around and not doing much), but it was definitely Christmas day, and having the dying woman with us removed the feeling of Christmas from the atmosphere.

There were a lot of people staying at the house, and fitting everyone in was obviously a problem. Me and Yu Lee were staying in a room that definitely doesn't exist at Ai Seng's house in real life. I'm not sure what the room was normally used for as it had all of the furniture you would expect in a bedroom, but it was attached to the kitchen. I remember saying at one point that it was convenient having the fridge so close to my bed.

I'm not sure where everyone else was staying, but there was a bed in each of the bathrooms. It really felt like there were people and their belongings everywhere!

One of the first scenes I remember was that we were all sitting in some kind of living room. The dying lady started to break down from her illness, and obviously thought she was going to die. She said "Nice meeting all of you," but a while later seemed to have recovered.

Another part of the dream that I remember was needed to use the toilet. I went into the downstairs bathroom, and there was a bed and lots of stuff in there. I closed the door and locked it, pulled down my jeans and was just sitting down when there was a knock on the door.

"Steve, we need to come in and get something. Is that OK?"

I pulled up my trousers and opened the door and Shaolin came in and started sorting through the items in the bathroom. On my way out I heard her lock the door and put the seat down on the toilet, and I felt pretty annoyed that she had kicked me out of the bathroom and then used it herself. A little while later I brought it up when we were all together again and she said "Well, I was desperate," and I said "So was I."

The last part of the dream that I remember was going somewhere with the dying woman and her children. She wanted to go for a walk, so I'd offered to go with her, and now we were outside somewhere.

There were no buildings around, and the scenery was like something you'd expect to find in a national park. I don't remember there being much vegetation around us, and we were walking along a rocky surface with a pool of water nearby.

We stopped walking and started talking. The lady was telling me about how her daughter had been really ill recently, "ever since we'd been to that rock."

I asked her "What rock?"

"We were out for the day in Cardiff, well actually in Middlesbrough, and we were hiking when we came up to a big flat rock," the lady explained. "After the children had been playing on it for a while, we realised that it was covered in a thick layer of dust. A while later [the girl] got sick, and when she recovered from one thing she got ill again with another. Eventually we realised it was the dust causing it and went back to the rock to investigate.

"When we got back to the rock, we started to move some of the dust out of the way and found all sorts of rubbish underneath. There was a lot of household waste, but also dead mice and cats and things like that."

Just as she'd finished speaking, her little girl toppled over head first into the pool of water in front of her. The mum instinctively grabbed her out, and the little kid just stood there and said innocently, "I didn't even notice."

After that I woke up naturally.

Throughout the dream I remember thinking that I had a lot of questions I wanted to ask the lady about her illness, but I didn't think she'd want to talk about it. She seemed very accepting of her fate. I felt like I'd feel angry if I were in her position, but she seemed calm.

Fingernails

This dream had a lot more to it than I remember, but the alarm clock seemed to erase most of it from my memory when it went off.

Something stressful was happening, like we were trying to do some kind of task and I kept getting distracted and having to quickly do other things before I'd finished my main task. The last time I got distracted was because my finger nails kept scratching my other fingers and I decided I just had to cut them.

I went and got the nail clippers, and when I looked at my hands my fingernails were really in a bad state. They were all funny shapes, and not in a way that would ever be possible. Each nail wasn't really very long, but sharp corners and edges seemed to be growing off of my nails at an angle. The easiest way to explain it is that my nails were the normal length, but the edge of each nail that was furthest from my fingertip was a lot longer the the edge of my nail where it grows out of my finger.

As I started to cut my nails my alarm went off and I woke up.

Headless

The first part of this dream that I remember is being away somewhere with a group of men. I don't remember exactly what we were doing, but I get the feeling we were on holiday, and maybe staying in some kind of caravan.

Something weird was happening, and we had an animal in a bag, and somehow it got out and was attacking us. It wasn't an ordinary animal: it was a weird creature about the size of a dog, but with a strange body shape that was unlike anything I've ever seen before. It didn't have a head, and seemed to mainly be a mass of strong, kicking legs, each ending in a pointed foot.

When the creature got out of the bag it went crazy, kicking anything it could. Eventually we dealt with it although I don't remember how. Either the creature did some serious damage to one member of our group, or we blew it up and he got caught in the explosion. Either way, one of our group ended up losing a hand and parts of both of his legs.

Later on we are back at some place that seems to be a cross between a school, work and a bank. We are all enrolled to go on some kind of survival course in another country with a famous teacher who appears on television, and me and the guy who had his legs blown off have some kind of agreement, like we are sharing a ticket or something. I don't really understand the arrangement now, but I remember working out that if he couldn't go then I couldn't go.

As we are walking into another part of the building, we see the famous guy who's running the course walking in the same general direction. I want to go and ask him some questions but I'm nervous, but then one of my friends convinces me to do it.

I tell him that we're on his course next week, but I've sustained some serious injuries and lost my feet and one of my hands, and ask him if this will stop me from being able to take part in the course. He looks at me like I'm crazy so I change my story and say that actually it was a friend of mine that had his feet blown off.

The teacher says that it would be difficult for someone with those kinds of injuries to do the training, but that he can't discuss any of his other students.

My friends are all queueing up for something now so I join them in the queue. I see my friend with the injuries and tell him to go and talk to the teacher. As I'm waiting in the queue I realised that the teacher didn't believe me when I told him they were my injuries because I clearly haven't lost my legs!

I'm chatting to my friends, and before I know it I've arrived at the front of the queue. It turns out that this a bank and we were in the queue to talk to the cashiers. The lady behind the counter asks me what I want and I don't know what to ask for as I was only in the queue so that I could talk to my friends. I panic and tell her I forgot what I came for, and she is clearly annoyed that I'm holding up the queue.

After a few seconds of confusion I get out my bank card and tell her that I'd like to withdraw £50. This is the last thing I remember before waking up.
