Bee Spider

Tags: Yu Lee

Me and Yu Lee are doing some kind of decorating work in the porch. Yu Lee is filling with polyfiller, and I am painting (at the same time).

All of a sudden Yu Lee sees a spider running along the surface that we are filling. She sticks out her hand and lets it climb onto her finger, and I remember thinking that it was very brave of her!

I don't remember getting there, but the next thing I know we are in the front room, and Yu Lee has the spider on her hand. It is quite fat and with short, thick legs. I look at it a little bit closer and it looks exactly like a bee, but has 8 legs like a spider and no wings.

All of a sudden Yu Lee drops it and shrieks "It bit me!"

I ask if it hurt and she said that it was just a little pinch. I get a piece of card and try to pick it up but it keeps crawling off, and Yu Lee keeps on nearly standing on it which annoys me.

Next she sits on her chair at her desk, and again nearly puts her foot on it. I grab her leg and pull it to move her out of the way and she falls over with the chair on top of her, and is laying face down and not moving. I ask if she's alright, but she doesn't reply, so I crawl over towards her. When I get there she is smiling and looks fine, and I feel relieved.

Wedding Party

Tags: Dad Yu Lee

I dreamt something to do with my wedding.

I don't remember all of the details, but we were having some kind of party with all of the wedding guests, but it wasn't the actual wedding, in fact I think it was some kind of rehearsal.

At one point, I was trying to do something with Yu Lee's jewellery, and I left a ring and some earrings in a small glass on a table outside. The next thing I knew it was the next day and it had rained over night, and the glass with the jewellery now had a couple of centimetres of water in the bottom.

The other thing I remember is trying to decide on a menu. We had planned for a dish to be served, but my dad managed to convince me to swap it for something with cubes of lamb.

Birthday Dancing

Tags: Yu Lee

I only remember this dream very vaguely.

I dreamt that me and Yu Lee went out in the evening to celebrate her birthday. All I remember is eating and having a couple of drinks, and then being so exhausted that I came home and went to bed early. I was so tired that I barely even remembered coming home.

The next day me and Yu Lee were talking, and she was telling me that after I left, everyone realised it was her birthday and kept asking to "dance with the birthday girl." I didn't like the fact that she was dancing with random people and felt jealous.

After a while, I suddenly realised that she was lying to me, and that we'd come home together. I just vaguely remembered arriving at home together, so I told her and she started laughing at me because I believed her that she'd stayed there on her own and danced with people.

I also remember an image from the dream of people dancing to Stairway to Heaven. I remember the dancers were some kind of travellers, and there was a black child with them but the rest of them were white. The music was very clear.

Offers in the Supermarket

Tags: Yu Lee

I don't remember much about this dream.

Me and Yu Lee are in a supermarket that we don't normally go to. When we walk in there are two girls that work there, and each of them tells us about a special offer. The first one has some scented tissues, and I don't remember the other one.

After a while, we decide to take advantage of the second offer (the one that I don't remember). After we've loaded up our trolley and are ready to leave, we have to walk through the rest of the store to get to the checkouts. As we walk past the first girl she asks us if we have reconsidered her boxes of scented tissues.

"No we don't need scented toilet paper thanks," I say to her.

As I said this she had a distinctly 'not impressed' look on her face, as if she was thinking "It's not toilet paper, it's a box of tissues!"

The Silver Lamppost

Semi-Lucid Dream (L1)

"Prize Meetings"

I think I'm at work, and they've launched a new scheme where you get selected to come to some kind of meeting, and when everyone's there, you have some kind of points allocated to you that you can spend on prizes. I think there are a selection of prizes, and the group has to decide who gets what prize.

I go to the first one of these meetings, and it's in a large room like a school hall with lots of round tables in it. I don't really remember the meeting, but the prizes were underwhelming and I felt it was a waste of time.

Later I'm summoned to another one of these meetings, and I go there again. Only a couple of people are there, and we have to wait for the rest of the group before we can start.

While we're waiting, one member of the group starts to talk about dreams, and then he pulls out his dream journal and starts reading from it. I think this is a bit of a coincidence because I have written one of my dreams down on an old receipt. I look at my dream, and think that I will mention it when this guy stops talking.

As I'm reading my dream off of the little scrap of paper, I suddenly realise that one of the dream characters, who was previously unknown to me, is in fact the guy in our group who is talking about his dream.

After a few minutes I realise that this guy just loves the sound of his own voice and is probably not going to stop any time soon. I realise that the whole meeting is a waste of time, and that it could be ages before the rest of the group arrives, so I get up and walk away.

Argument on a Train

The next thing I remember is being with Yu Lee, and we are arguing about something. It gets quite heated and one of us ends up leaving. My recollection of the start of the argument is vague, but I know Yu Lee ends up getting on a train for some reason.

Later, I'm at the train station, and Yu Lee's train pulls up. I get on the train and sit down opposite her and we continue our argument from earlier. As before, neither of us is willing to back down, so I get up and walk off of the train.

When I'm outside, I can see that this must be the last stop on the line because you can walk round one end of the train. I walk around it, and as I get to the other side I see Yu Lee just outside the door. She is looking around to find me, but hasn't seen me and goes back inside.

I realise that she wants to talk, and also realise that the train is probably going to pull away soon, so I run to the door and try to get her attention. She sees me as the doors close, and I try to signal to her to press the button inside to open the door so that she can get off. She doesn't understand what to do, and is desperately trying to find the button. I can see that she's starting to panic now and is crying.

I'm thinking of how I can get her to understand how to open the door, and suddenly I realise that there is a button on the outside too, so I press it and the door opens. Yu Lee is so relieved and her tears immediately turn into a big smile as she steps off of the train. I give her a big hug and she is relieved that the train didn't pull out of the station.

Blurry Sky and Silver Lamppost

The next thing I remember is being back home. It's a nice sunny day, so I decide to open the patio doors and go outside into the garden.

The moment that I step outside I realise that the sky looks weird, like it is all blurry. I look up and think to myself, "The only thing that would make the sky blurry like this would be a big cloud in front of the sun, and that type cloud isn't here." (This is a weird bit of dream logic!) "The only other thing that could cause this would be a trail of vapour, like the trail left behind from a meteorite."

I look around and then I see the meteorite trail from the top of the sky to the horizon. I immediately feel the ground shake as it hits the ground.

This time I think to myself, "What are the chances of that? I think of a meteorite, and then I see the trail. I must be dreaming!"

At that moment I realise that I am in a dream, and leap into the air. I rise upwards and slightly backwards, watching as the ground disappears beneath me and most of my vision is filled with the clear blue sky (which is no longer blurry).

As I rise up I see a path with a large silver lamppost on either side of it, with several more of these lampposts going off into the distance in either direction. I stare at the lamppost as there is nothing else to look at: the sky is clear blue without a cloud in it. I think that I must look at something to stabilise the dream, and the lamppost is the only option.

I must be in the air for a second, drifting slowly backwards, when I decide I need to move towards the lamppost. I start to do breaststroke to try and pull myself towards it, and it works to some extent although I'm only moving very slowly.

I can see the lamppost in perfect detail. It's made of brushed chrome, and on the top of it, instead of a light, is a brushed chrome sphere. It doesn't even occur to me that the lamppost looks weird as the only thought in my mind is to not let the dream fade away.

Unfortunately, after just a couple of seconds, my dream does fade away. The dream world fades, and my eyes open, and now I am in my bedroom. I'm staring at the curtain pole, which is brushed chrome with a large finial on the end of it! I guess I was dreaming with my eyes open, and my mind integrated the curtain pole into my dream as the lamppost.

Jagdeep's Travels

Tags: Carlos Jagdeep

Jagdeep is someone I knew from school, who has a disability and has also suffered with some quite serious illnesses. In my dream I'm pretty sure he had something terminal, and was determined to make the most of the rest of his life.

There are four of us in a car: Jagdeep, Carlos, one other person and me. I'm pretty sure I knew who the other person was when I woke up but it's long gone now.

We are driving somewhere and talking, and the first topic of conversation is Carlos' accent. Someone is asking why his Spanish accent is stronger or weaker depending on what he is talking about, and I give some kind of explanation as Carlos is driving and trying to concentrate. I ask Carlos if he agrees and he does.

A while later Jagdeep is telling us about his travels. In my dream he lives in the United States, but is doing a trip around the UK at the moment. He's been to all sorts of places and hasn't worked for a while (due to his terminal illness) and he is explaining how he got the funding for it.

We arrive at a multi storey carpark and stop the car, and everyone gets out. I can't remember why, but Jagdeep walks off somewhere and we do whatever it is we are doing. After a while we get back in the car to leave.

"Is he coming back?" someone asks, and I say I don't know. Jagdeep had just been talking about how this part of his trip was over, and it wasn't 100% obvious if he was coming back.

We go to drive out of the carpark and then we see him so we stop and let him in.

"Where are you going next then Jagdeep?" I ask him.

"I'm going to travel around the UK for another week and then I'm off to East Asia."

Looking for my Laptop

I dreamt that I'd used my laptop to record the start of my sleep before my nap, but then when I woke up I couldn't figure out where I'd left it. I looked everywhere in the house, and found all sorts of long lost items, but my laptop was nowhere to be found.

I remember thinking "Ten minutes have gone by already, I really need to record the end of my sleep or it won't be very accurate." I realised I could use another device (such as my phone) to do it, but I really wanted to end it on the same device that I started it.

Friday Afternoon at Work

Tags: Atta Kedar

I'm at work. I don't think it's exactly WorldPay, but based on some of the things I'm talking about it definitely has aspects of WorldPay.

It's Friday afternoon and no one feels like working, so we're just kind of hanging out. There are a group of us sitting around talking, and although I don't remember the whole conversation, I do remember talking about how stupid it is that everyone is just hanging out and not doing work, but we have to stay here and can't just go home. I definitely mention that it's not like that when you work for yourself, although in the dream I clearly haven't left my job yet which seems a little bit inconsistent.

At some point the conversation changes and we talk about speaking Spanish. I was talking about what I do when I don't know a word, and how I can get by either by describing it in a bit of a long winded way, or just by saying the English word. I also talk about how Atta and Kedar do the same when they are talking Hindi/Urdu, how sometimes you hear them suddenly slip in an English word, even though they are both native speakers.

Two of the people I am talking to get up and walk away. I'm not sure if they're a couple, but there seems to be something going on between them and I leave them to it. I want to go with them but I don't want them to feel like I'm following them around. The remaining member of the group starts to sing gently but I'm not listening because I'm deep in thought.

Suddenly I snap out of it and mentally process what he was singing:

Déjala pasar
Corriente vital
Somos luces que se cruzan y se quitan no se dan

"Ah you know Ojos de Brujo?" I say excitedly (literally "Eyes of the Sorcerer"; a Spanish band).

The next thing I remember is leaving work to come home. My work is in the city centre, and the journey home is definitely not a typical journey home through Cambridge! The streets seem to be a bit more dodgy with lots of people hanging around.

It's just starting to get dark when I leave, and I decide to walk back home 'the Histon Road way', which makes very little sense if I live the same place as real life as there isn't really a logical route here via Histon Road. The first area I walk through seems to be an area with lots of Indian and Pakistani people around, which is odd because Cambridge doesn't really have areas with lots of one ethnic group. It seems a lot more like Slough where I grew up.

The people in the street are all wearing woolly hats, and I remember thinking that it's silly because it's the middle of summer and it's really hot! As I quickly walk through this area, the people are often standing in my way and not keen to move and let me past. I feel a little bit intimidated as there are a lot of people everywhere, hanging around, and I feel like an outsider. I remember thinking "I'm not coming home this way again!"

The next area I come to seems a bit like a high street, with a wide open pedestrianised area and lots of shops. I'm approaching a pub that I think is a bit dodgy, but I can't think of the name of it. In my head I'm saying "I know it's not called this, but I keep wanting to call it 'The Good Companion'." I'm pretty sure that was the name of a pub in Slough too.

When I walk past the pub, there is a little stall in the middle of the street (which is pedestrianised) which sells newspapers. The stall is closed and a homeless man is laying on the floor, leaning against the stall. As I get closer I realise he has a dog with him which is asleep, and he's drinking beer out of a plastic cup. Again I think to myself that I'll avoid this route home in future because it's not very nice!

Shoes in the River

I only remember this quite vaguely now, so I won't go into much detail.

I'm outside somewhere, and there is a river. The river has large blocks of stone / concrete in it, so you can pretty much walk down the river, stepping from block to block.

I'm out on the blocks, when I come across a pair of shoes. For some reason I decided to take off my shoes and try them on, and even though they don't fit, I keep them on when I leave, leaving my shoes behind on the rock.

I continue up the river until I come to a dead end where the blocks stop, and I have to back track a little before I can make it to the bank.

The next bit is a bit hazy, but I went to somewhere that you normally need an appointment. I think it was a hair dresser. I go in to make my appointment, and they tell me they don't have an appointment for a while, but there is a space after their next customer, as long as he finishes in time.

When the next customer comes in, for some reason he isn't ready to get his hair cut then and has to go back to the river to get something. I can't really remember what happened here, but I know I went back to the river too to get my shoes back.

The only thing I remember from the last part of the dream was someone telling him that he should walk back along the bank, and not along the rocks.

Wedding

Tags: Yu Lee

I dreamt that it was mine and Yu Lee's wedding day. I don't remember all of the details of the dream, but I remember a vague outline of the plot.

The main thing that I remember is that the whole thing was a bit of a mess! While we were on our way to the ceremony, we realised that we hadn't even finished giving all of the specifications to the venue or the registry office. There were a list of things that the registry office told us we need decide on, like the different options for readings and having our own vows, and even the music.

We had a lot of guests at the wedding, unlike what we are planning in real life. There must have been at least 200 people there, and we were outside. We were having some kind of reception first, and then the ceremony was due to start.

When it was time for the ceremony, we asked one of the guests to gather everyone round the spot where the ceremony would take place. As we were standing there waiting we went over the list of all of the things that we hadn't decided on yet, like the music, and we couldn't work out what they were going to do. It felt like the whole thing wasn't ready.

Our guests were taking ages to come over, and for some reason we didn't want to move from the spot because we were in position. I started waving frantically at one of the guests to try and draw attention to the fact that we were waiting, and eventually everyone started to slowly gather round.

I don't remember what happened next, but I remember thinking the whole thing was a farce!
