Yu Lee woke up and said something like: "I don't feel tired this morning". It feels like we have been asleep a lot longer that 90 minutes! |

I'm sure I was dreaming as I woke up because I could remember it briefly, but the memory faded straight away as I didn't put any effort into trying to remember it. As a result I felt less of the grogginess from waking up, but I did feel a little tired this morning. I think last nights nap was too late to be really beneficial. |

Then after dinner a wave of tiredness suddenly hit me and I thought "Now it's nap time!" I fell asleep straight away, but then Yu Lee came to bed 10 minutes later which woke me up, and it took me a while to go back to sleep. When I woke up it was dark and I felt like I had slept the night through! I wasn't too groggy but Yu Lee was. |

I woke up with a small groggy feeling, but I felt refreshed and knew I'd been dreaming, although I couldn't remember what I'd been dreaming about. It feels like I have had a whole nights sleep. My girlfriend tried to nap with me but go up and left near the beginning. It was great to fall asleep with her even if she didn't stay throughout the whole nap. |

Unfortunately I had to work, and afterwards I went to the park with LucĂa so I didn't get back until 5:00. I felt like I could just about sleep, and I got a lot of the drifting off to sleep feelings, but after 45 minutes I got bored and got up. |

In the end I fell asleep after a few minutes. I woke up about half way through this nap - it was either after half an hour or an hour. I did look at the timer and try to work it out but I was half asleep. After that I closed my eyes for what seemed like a second and then my alarm clock was going off. Afterwards I had a groggy but nice feeling, and felt like I had been asleep for hours. |

I laid in bed for 5 minutes or so and then decided it's better to just get up than force myself to go back to sleep. I'm not sure whether I woke up because I've had enough sleep, or because I'm used to the everyman 3.5 hour core. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see how tired I am today. |

66 | 02/09/12 13:54 to 02/09/12 15:26 | 1:32 | I slept well | This was my first nap after having a 6 hour core, and although I did sleep for most of it I wasn't quite tired enough to sleep through all of it. First of all I didn't sleep straight away as my girlfriend was moving around downstairs and making some noise, and next door's children were in the garden singing, but I did get to sleep in the end. I think it may have taken 10 minutes to get to sleep but it's difficult to be sure. I also woke up at 1 point when I rolled onto my side and my eye pillow fell off. I think I was already waking up before this as I never roll onto my side during a nap and I remember thinking it might fall off so I couldn't have been properly asleep. I feel slightly groggy afterwards, but definitely refreshed. The experience of having a 90 minute nap is totally different to a 20 minute power nap. |

When this new sleeping pattern is properly established I hope to only sleep 4.5 hours for my core, but I wanted to use this core to pay off some sleep debt from my everyman experiment. I slept through solidly, and when my alarm went off it took me a while to work out what was going on. Now that I'm up I feel a little bit sleepy, but nothing compared to my 2:30am wake up on eveyman! |

Basically adapting to it seems to stop life being fun, and although it may have been cool to be finally adapted to it, I'm not sure it is worth the effort. This nap marks the start of my attempt to sleep with a proper biphasic pattern (i.e. better than the joke of a sleep pattern I had in Spain). I feel a bit groggy after that nap, but it feels like I got a whole nights sleep! Let's see how this works out for me... |

I slept on my study floor with a cushion under my head, and eye pillow on my face and a small blanket over me. I think this is a better nap spot than the sofa! I think I dreamt through this nap, although I don't have a clue what I dreamt about. I feel much better for that nap, although my vision is blurred for some reason. |

I toyed with the idea of extending my core to 4.5 hours, but after talking to a few people on IRC chat I decided against it. Today, if I feel really sleepy at any point which isn't right before or after a nap I will take an extra nap to see if that helps. Apparently this is a much better idea than extending a core and won't really harm my adaptation. When I woke up from this sleep I was dreaming, but I can't remember anything about the dream. I'm still sleepy though... |

When I used it on the sofa my head was at an angle and it felt like it might fall off. I like this nap on a Friday because my girlfriend comes home early on Friday, so when I wake up she is waiting for me which is great. |

I slept on the sofa with the eye pillow on my face and had a good sleep, although I woke up feeling slightly groggy. When I got back to the office my alertness levels were at least what they used to be on monophasic sleep. Unfortunately it only lasted about 15 minutes, but now I would say I am 'slightly tired' which is still pretty good. |

I dreamt that I was outside and walking through a park, and I walked up to a group of people that I knew and started talking to them. They all gave me a really odd look, and then their faces morphed into complete strangers. I thought I was awake and this was happening, and that my sleep schedule had made me hallucinate, which made me wake up instantly. I opened my eyes and could see my bedroom, but I was sliding slowly to the right, towards the edge of the bed. I tried to stop myself but couldn't, and was uncontrollably sliding. I tried to make a noise but I couldn't at first, and then eventually I think I made a little groaning noise and woke up properly. I'm not sure if I was still dreaming the last bit, or experiencing some kind of sleep paralysis. I looked at the clock and it said 20 minutes had passed. At least I know now that I am getting some REM, even if my dreams are not very nice! |
