Last night I went out on a language exchange with my friend from Tenerife. I was out from 7:00pm until 10:30pm and I had some very spicy vegetarian food and a couple of beers. When I arrived back at home I was quite tired, but it took me about half an hour to settle down and get into bed.
I don't remember how long it took me to get to sleep last night but I don't think it was too long, and I don't think it was instant. The theme of last night was waking up in the night!
I woke up at 1:00am and thought it was morning, but then I looked at the clock and realised that I'd only been asleep 2 hours. Then I woke up at 2:00am, 3:00am, 3:30am and 4:00am. At 4:00am I laid there for about 10 minutes but still didn't fall back to sleep so I decided to get up.
This morning I feel bunged up! My nose is totally full of gunk and I can tell that I've been sleeping with my mouth open because it tastes like something has crawled inside it and died. I also have a headache, probably from my sinuses being blocked. I'm getting bored of this now!

I initially went to bed at 11:30am, and as soon as I laid down I realised how disgusting I felt! My whole head felt congested and hot, and I could feel the breath coming out of my nostrils and it felt extremely hot and uncomfortable. I put in my ear plugs just in case next door decided to make a racket and wake me up, and I put on my eye mask, but after about a minute I realised that the eye mask was just making my eyes feel extremely hot and took it off again.
I decided, as my eyes felt hot, to lay with my eye pillow on for a while as it has a lovely cooling effect, and it did make me feel a lot better. After about 15 minutes of that I took off the eye pillow, logged the start of my sleep and settled down for my nap.
I think it took me about 5 minutes to fall asleep and I woke up at 1:30pm. I looked at the clock and was pleased with the amount of sleep I'd had, but decided to have a little go on the eye pillow again because my eyes were hot again.
I don't remember falling asleep, but I do remember dreaming (although not what the dream was about) and all of a sudden being aware of my eye pillow. I thought "this can't be real - I've nodded off with my eye pillow on" which caused me to wake up.
Now I have a mild headache and feel quite nasty, but it was a good sleep and well worth it! Especially considering the poor quality of my sleep last night.

I didn't sleep at all
I am always writing things on here like "It took me a while to fall asleep, but it was not frustrating and was nice and relaxing", but today I am going to say the opposite! Last night I think I maybe overestimated how tired I was and went to bed when I was not really ready to sleep, and it was boring and frustrating. I kept having to sit upright to blow my nose and cough and it was not nice at all!
Before I went to bed, at about 9:00pm, all of a sudden some really loud music started playing through the wall from my neighbour's house. As it got closer to bed time I started to think that I would have to go round there and ask them to turn it down, but dead on 10:30pm they turned it right down. I could still faintly hear it but it wasn't enough to bother me. I have to admit I felt really relieved!

After my initial 32 minutes in bed which I marked as did not sleep, I finally drifted off, only to sneeze myself awake at 1:30am. In my half asleep state I remember trying frantically to find a tissue to clean up after my nose explosion!
That wasn't the only time I woke up: I think I woke up on at least 2 more times for similar reasons but it wasn't like the horrible broken sleep I'd had the previous night. I still feel like my sleep quality was not as good as usual though, and I think I will need to take my nap early again today to make up for poor sleep quality.
This morning I actually feel a bit better than yesterday, but I am still producing a lot of mucus and now I am sneezing a lot too. I also still have the horrible hot feeling on my eyes and a mild headache from being bunged up, and it is still pretty unpleasant to be staring at the computer screen. Hopefully I am past the worse now.
