Last night I was quite tired by bed time and fell asleep in about 5 minutes.
This morning I woke up at 1:30am, after just 3 hours! This definitely isn't a full night's sleep, so I intend to go back to bed in a couple of hours. I'm not 100% sure why I woke up but I felt very hot when I woke up.

After an hour awake I decided to try to go back to sleep, even though I didn't feel particularly tired. By this time I had a bit of a headache too.
I laid in bed for at least 20 minutes before I started to drift off, and then I drifted in and out of consciousness for about an hour. By 4:00 I was fast asleep and when my alarm went off at 4:30 I decided to go back to sleep, so I reset my alarm for 5:00.
Now it's 5:00 and I could definitely have slept a little more, but I didn't want to mess up my sleep pattern. I feel more tired now that I did before I went back to sleep! I also still have a bit of a headache.
The interesting thing is that the period of time I spent in bed but not sleeping didn't feel bad at all. Normally if it took me such a long time to go to sleep I would be bored but it wasn't like that, and it actually felt pretty good.

I didn't sleep at all
All morning I felt very tired. When I was in the bath I closed my eyes a few times and instantly my thoughts would start wandering and I would have intense day-dreams so my body was definitely ready for sleep.
Just after midday I decided to go for my nap and by this time next door were playing music, so I decided to try out my new wax ear plugs. I laid in bed for at least 20 minutes before I could get any sleep.
The problem was that every time I would start to nod off I would cough and this would wake me up.

Eventually after 20 minutes I managed to fall asleep and then I woke up after exactly 1 hour. I logged my sleep, and just like yesterday couldn't be bothered to get up for a while. The next thing I knew I had slept for another 30 minutes.
I have to say the wax earplugs were pretty good! They were a bit of an effort to get in properly, but once they were in they made a good seal against the inside of my ears and they had very little material poking out so were comfortable for sleeping on my side. The main downside is that they are expensive compared to foam ear plugs.
This was the first time I've woken up in ages without a horribly sore throat! This time my nose was full of nasty thick mucus, but I think that's a step in the right direction!

Last night I went out on a language exchange with my friend from Tenerife. I was out from 7:00pm until 10:30pm and I had some very spicy vegetarian food and a couple of beers. When I arrived back at home I was quite tired, but it took me about half an hour to settle down and get into bed.
I don't remember how long it took me to get to sleep last night but I don't think it was too long, and I don't think it was instant. The theme of last night was waking up in the night!
I woke up at 1:00am and thought it was morning, but then I looked at the clock and realised that I'd only been asleep 2 hours. Then I woke up at 2:00am, 3:00am, 3:30am and 4:00am. At 4:00am I laid there for about 10 minutes but still didn't fall back to sleep so I decided to get up.
This morning I feel bunged up! My nose is totally full of gunk and I can tell that I've been sleeping with my mouth open because it tastes like something has crawled inside it and died. I also have a headache, probably from my sinuses being blocked. I'm getting bored of this now!
