I didn't sleep at all

This was by far the worst period of not being able to sleep since I started recording my sleeps! It took me 1.5 hours to get to sleep!

I started to feel a little sleepy around 10:00pm, but I stayed up until 10:45pm so that I would stand a better chance of getting to sleep, but when I finally did go to bed I simply couldn't sleep. It was weird though because I felt like I would be able to sleep.

I remember just before midnight I actually drifted off to sleep for a minute or 2 and then had a weird experience and woke up in a brief period of sleep paralysis. The weird thing is that I can't really remember what happened: it's as if my brain has tried really hard to forget it.

After that I got up and went to the toilet and had a drink of water, and eventually I fell asleep. I also set my alarm clock a little bit later, from 4:30am to 4:50am to make up for some of the time I had wasted laying in bed.

EDIT: I was also coughing a lot last night, so maybe this contributed towards my not being able to sleep?

After an hour and a half of trying to fall asleep, I finally drifted off and then slept though solidly until my alarm went off at 4:50am. There's really no much to say about the rest of my sleep as it was totally uneventful!

When I woke up this morning I felt really tired, and I could definitely have done with a bit more sleep in the end, but I think I did the right thing getting up at this time as I want to be able to get back into my normal pattern today.

In future, when I have a day here I sleep a lot (I slept nearly 9 hours the day before yesterday) I will either skip my nap completely or go to bed a lot later than usual. I think I need to get some consistency back into my schedule.

Today for the first time in a very long time Yu Lee came with me for my nap. She said she didn't really want to sleep but just wanted a cuddle, but as is typically the case she feel straight to sleep way before I did! It's quite annoying how she is probably better at my sleeping pattern then I am...

In the end it took me a while to fall asleep even though I was quite tired, mainly because I kept having to blow my nose and coughing up horrible phlegm that I had to spit into a tissue because I couldn't swallow it. I think it took me about 15 minutes to fall asleep, and then I drifted in and out until about 1 o'clock. Once I was properly asleep I slept solidly for about an hour and woke up feeling refreshed. I laid in bed for a few minutes until Yu Lee started to stir when I gently woke her up, and we chatted in bed for about half an hour before getting up.

All in all this was an almost perfect nap! Now I'm sitting on the sofa, drinking tea and watching Yu Lee play Final Fantasy VII whilst I type this up on my tablet!

Last night I was pretty tired by the time I got to bed and I fell asleep in less than 5 minutes. The night was uneventful and slept through until my alarm at 4:30am. I feel slightly tired now but I'm sure that will disappear in the next half an hour or so.
