After an hour awake I decided to try to go back to sleep, even though I didn't feel particularly tired. By this time I had a bit of a headache too.
I laid in bed for at least 20 minutes before I started to drift off, and then I drifted in and out of consciousness for about an hour. By 4:00 I was fast asleep and when my alarm went off at 4:30 I decided to go back to sleep, so I reset my alarm for 5:00.
Now it's 5:00 and I could definitely have slept a little more, but I didn't want to mess up my sleep pattern. I feel more tired now that I did before I went back to sleep! I also still have a bit of a headache.
The interesting thing is that the period of time I spent in bed but not sleeping didn't feel bad at all. Normally if it took me such a long time to go to sleep I would be bored but it wasn't like that, and it actually felt pretty good.
