Sleep Log

Thursday 11 December 2014 02:15 to 08:30

(6:15 hours)

Last night I stayed up later and was tired by the time I went to bed. I didn't sleep straight away, mainly because I was thirsty but couldn't be bothered to get back up. After a while I decided I had to get some water, and after that I fell asleep quickly.

My alarm was set for 8:00am, and when it went off it woke me from a dream. I reset it for 8:30am, and was surprised when it went straight back off again, and realised I must have set it wrong. When I looked at it it was in fact 8:30am and I'd fallen asleep so quickly that I didn't even realise I'd slept for half an hour.

Ergonomics

I remember two parts of this dream very clearly.

In my dream I'm working in an office building, and in the first part of my dream I remember seeing a new type of "ergonomic" office, where you could raise your office area up and down. I'm not sure whether I saw another ergonomic office in real life or just saw a picture/video of it somewhere, but it consisted of a large building with a wheel of massive steel arms in the middle of the room. Each arm extended outwards slightly and upwards, and from the top of the arm was suspended a work area.

Each work area had a floor, ceiling and two walls - like a box with the front and back missing. Inside each work area was a desk and a chair, and the arms in the centre of the room could be moved so that the work area would go up or down to the desired height.

I have no idea how I did it, and it doesn't make much sense, but somehow I managed to implement this in my office building. All of the other employees were working at normal work stations at ground level, but mine had a giant steel arm behind it that could raise it up and down.

I also, for some reason, had two work stations: a normal one on ground level and my new "ergonomic" one which I chose to suspend several metres in the air. I spent a lot of time adjusting the height of my new office and was constantly moving between work stations, taking objects and furniture from one to the other.

The second part of my dream that I remember was back at my normal work station. I had some kind of inflatable back support and I was showing people how it worked.

For some reason I had it in my rucksack, and I had a remote control attached to it by a wire. When I pressed the button the back support would inflate and poke out of my rucksack.

I specifically remember showing a girl that worked with me how it worked, but she didn't seem to be very interested. I thought it was wonderful for some reason and was frustrated by her lack of interest.
